In 1997, Edmonds Community College received the Edmonds Floral Conference Center from generous donors, Ed and Maude Hodgson.  The Hodgsons, longtime residents of Edmonds and South Snohomish County, traveled throughout the United States judging chrysanthemums.  They have two hybrid varieties named for them.  “Ed Hodgson” is a white flower spotted with yellow or cream flecks.  “Maude Hodgson” is a brilliant red flower.  Mums were not only their passion but that of their club, “Fun with Mums.”

Ed and Maude had a dream to have a local facility that was open to the community for activities of all types.  This dream took shape on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Bell Street in downtown Edmonds.  The Center is a unique 10,000 square foot facility featuring a large banquet/exhibition hall, meeting rooms, public facilities, offices and an open atrium – all flooded with natural light.

In 2004, with Ed’s blessing and the recognition that the Center had truly evolved as a multi-use facility, the name was changed to the Edmonds Conference Center.

Nonprofit, business and social groups are supported by a professional staff that guarantees the highest standards of excellence in event coordination.  Typical events include seminars, conferences, retreats, workshops, fundraising activities, banquets, and special occasions such as weddings and memorials.  Additionally, the Center is also used for the instructional programs of ULearn and the Creative Retirement Institute.

The community legacy of Ed and Maude Hodgson is appreciated on a daily basis by the clients, participants and students of the Edmonds Conference Center.
